What Causes Central Serous Retinopathy?

Central Serous Retinopathy (CSR) is a condition in which fluid accumulates under the macula only, causing it to lift and resulting in visual disturbances. The macula is a vital part of the retina needed for sharp, detailed sight.

The leakage in CSR is due to the excessive leakiness of large blood vessels beneath the retina. 

However, CSR doesn’t always cause symptoms. A person can have the condition but not have apparent visual problems.
