Dr Chan is a triple-Fellowship trained, experienced, and internationally recognised Ophthalmologist. He has international clinical experience from McGill University and Moorfields Eye Hospital London, and has been awarded Ophthalmology accreditation from the UK, Canada & Singapore. As founder & Medical Director of Ascend Eye Clinic, his wide range of specialisations include cataract surgery, premium lens implants, presbyopia correction, retinal diseases & surgery, secondary lens implants, glaucoma treatment & surgery, high-risk & complex eye surgery, and laser vision correction.
Dr Chan has published more than 40 articles in Ophthalmology journals and textbooks, and is a clinical trial investigator for new devices and drugs to better treat eye diseases. He was Clinical Lecturer at the National University of Singapore, and previously mentored trainee doctors in eye surgery.. Dr Chan is a speaker at international meetings, and his achievements have been recognised by awards from the Retina Foundation of Canada, World Glaucoma Association, and the Asia-Pacific Vitreoretina Society.

Modern cataract surgery can be thought of as lens replacement surgery, where the natural but cloudy lens is removed and replaced with a new crystal-clear, artificial intraocular lens (IOL) implant. Our approach includes bladeless and computer-guided cataract surgery, and lens implants to reduce the need for glasses.
